1 in a 1,000.
Ten years ago, I did two things that are milestones in my career.
In 2014 we changed the name of the charity that I co-founded in 2008 from ‘Estate Agency Foundation’ to ‘Agents Giving’. That same year I wrote the first four-i.
I haven’t kept a tally of how much money Agents Giving has helped to fundraise for many worthy charities, but it’s got to be £5million or so, probably more.
I do keep a record of all the four-i’s though – this is issue 546.
Both initiatives were set up to make a contribution – one with financial assistance to those who need it most, the other with free information, insight, ideas and inspiration to help businesses and individuals fulfill their potential – and today, after a decade of giving, I’m asking for something back.
One of the true legends of estate agency, David Newnes, my very good friend, fellow board member, and Chair of Agents Giving, has issued a challenge to get 1,000 people in the property industry to “get on their bike” and help raise £100,000 for The Trussell Trust.
You can cycle as near or far as you wish – whether it’s just a few miles on a static bike in the gym or the circumference of Great Britain (both of which have been part of the history of Agents Giving) – all you have to do is raise or donate a minimum of £100.
Last year the Trussell Trust distributed a staggering 3.1 million food parcels, and sadly it’s likely that demand will be even greater this year – we want to continue to support their work to both provide the parcels and to also help end the need for food banks in this country.
