(and many more)?
A. Nile Rodgers
He wrote, co-wrote, performed on, &/or produced all these and hundreds more songs.
From founding Chic in the late 70’s, he’s gone on to work with some of the best artists in every one of the 5 decades since, most recently in 2023 winning a Grammy Award for Best R&B song with Beyonce for Cuff it.
I went to see him and his latest Chic line up at Hampton Court Music Festival last week. It was truly a superb concert, and Rodgers sounded as good, both vocally and musically with his guitar play, as I remember from my teenage years. Which got me thinking.
Why do some people age well, and so many don’t?
My observation, based on an evening with Nile Rodgers, is having a purpose and being relevant.
It’s not enough just to have a purpose – you must also remain relevant.
