Walking through Southwark the other evening, I noticed the pediment above the entrance to ‘Kirkaldy Testing and Experimenting Works’ where written in stone it states to all who cross the threshold:
“FACTS NOT OPINIONS”
I can think of many other workplaces that would benefit from this daily reminder.
It caused me to remember something my good friend Josh Phegan, the Australian real estate coach, used to say to the agents he trained:
“Are you going to show me your numbers or tell me your stories?”
Those who trade in excuses have just been given a trump card with the announcement of the general election.
Indeed, at this time of year there’s many to choose from:
“Sales are down because…
of the general election
the weather
everyone’s away
it’s too hot
the football…” and many more.
