POST revisited.
I advocate starting your planning process by using the POST model we developed some years ago (building on the work by Alistair Campbell).
Purpose – your why?
Objective – your desired result
Strategy – how you will achieve your desired result
Tactics – unlike the above, where you should only have one, you can have as many as you want or need.
I recently read some wise words from William Rothschild which include two simple questions to help you define your Objective and Strategy:
“What do you want to achieve or avoid? The answer to this question is your objective.
How will you go about achieving your desired result? The answer to this you can call strategy.”
