Poley, Poley
Property Academy speaker, expert storyteller and BBC journalist, Steve Rawling joined us on a webinar this week and amongst many excellent tips and advice he said one thing that had a profound impact:
“You can’t fall out of a hole. You have to climb.”
This is so true. We fall into problem situations, we have to climb out of them.
My mind was taken back a decade or so to when I climbed Mount Kilimanjaro. It was one of the toughest physical challenges I’ve completed as the altitude and lack of oxygen was extremely debilitating. The most testing part though wasn’t the minus 23 temperature at night or even digging your own latrine on one occasion but the relentless boredom of putting one foot in front of another, over and over again, as the sherpas chanted “poley, poley” (which translates to “slowly, slowly”).
We’re in for a long, slow climb but need to remind ourselves that each step is one closer to the summit.
